FamilyHaven been speaking to Number 2 since CNY (Shanel's place). We used to travel to work together everyday, but ever since the first day of work after CNY, we have been travelling separately to work (even though our buildings are just next to each other). Neither have we been lunching together anymore. Initially this puzzled me a lot, and I had been speaking with Mum to find out if Number 2 had told Mum anything. Mum initially told me she is ignorant of all these until I told her. Then on one Saturday in Feb, Number 2 told Mum the reason (which I only got to know in early March).
Number 2 claimed that I had not been re-imbursing her for the petrol money. Apparently last year when we started taking cabs to work together, it was a 'today you pay, tmr I pay'. However in Sept/Oct, Number 2 ran into financial difficulties, so out of a week of 5 working days, I paid for almost all 5 days. Then came Dec whereby she was really broke and got her future husband (J) to fetch us to work. However J did not fetch us every single day, out of 5 days, it was max 4 days, usually 2-3 days only. So on days that we took cab to work, I paid for the cab fare. So it became fair and square right?
However in her version to Mum, it was that I had NOT been paying for the cabfares on those days that J did not fetch us to work. My conscience is clear, and I am extremely upset with her accusations. And we are sisters, by blood. Are these money issues so serious that she cannot tell me face to face and must take the cowardly approach instead? If she feels that I should re-imburse her for those bloody diesel, then tell me face to face. Why do this kind of 'small people action'? We can always trash things out isn't it? Apparently to her monies are more impt than family. And I did not calculate with her on those times when I paid for the transportation almost every single day. What is this, man? She is making me absolutely pissed and disgusted with her.
Anyway I have a good mind not to be her 'jiemei' at her upcoming wedding in April. If she does not
open her mouth and ask me to be her jiemei, I will just feign ignorance and NOT be the jiemei at her wedding. I used to feel that she is selfish, money-minded and materialistic (with several incidents that she wanted to 'borrow' money from Mum, flaring up when Mum did not 'lend' her money; etc)
and with this diesel thingy, it has only reinforced my opinion and proved that my judgement is right.
And with her wedding in less than a month's time, our family should be happily preparing for her wedding. However we are in the dark about all their arrangements and schedules. Everything is decided by them and J's family. Number 2 did not even bother to come back to discuss anything with Dad and Mum. They only came back once (since CNY day 1 till now, end March) and that was to inform Dad and Mum of the buffet thingy on her actual day. Anyway this wedding has not thrown the family into any kind of happiness mood, we are supposed to be feeling happy for her ya? But in the end this wedding has made her drift further apart from us. She drifted to J's family and has almost totally cut us off. Maybe we should be happy for her that she is blending in so naturally with J's family? Ok, then congrats.
