Things I want my Daughters to Know....
Written on Monday, June 23, 2008 | back to top

Darling's going for reservist soon... for 3 whole weeks sia... Wonder how I am going to survive the 3 weeks, only able to see him on weekends. What shall I do on weekdays after work? So on Saturday (21 June), I bought a book at Harris (Great World City) to keep myself occupied when he's not around.

Photobucket

I love to read, but I cannot really bear to part away with the money to buy these paperbacks. These paperbacks usually cost about $18, spending hundred bucks on nails is nothing to me, but I actually stinge at spending $20 on these soul-enriching books! Haha... Ya, that's right. I am a miser at these.

The title of the book caught my eye, and without hesitation, I took the book from the shelve and read the prologue, something that I must do to determine if I like the style of writing and the contents. This prologue is really powerful, it is a simple letter from a dying mother to her children, hit me right in the heart, made my eyes glisten with tears at the bookstore, and with the tears threatening to flow out from the corner of my eyes, I knew I had to get this book. And this book is not cheap hor, it costs $35, twice the amount the paperbacks I usually read. However I am certain that I will not regret buying this book.

Aren't the shoes lovely? I love them absolutely! Pink with black ribbon and the metallic grey (or silver? I cannot really make out the colour, but you know which pair I am referring to la hor) pairs were bought at Far East in April when I went shopping with Nel on a fateful Saturday afternoon. I indulged myself with 2 pairs of shoes! Nel got the ribbon pair too, except that hers is black with white ribbon... The pink pair is out of size le! Photobucket

The white pair is the latest addition I bought while shopping with Nel (again!) last week after work... She was supposed to be the one who wanted to buy things, end up I bought more things than her! How can?!?! Of coz can, coz I love this pair very much too! It's a must buy for me... Was so tempted to buy another pair.. Photobucket But thank goodness I did not, James would have chopped my head off, then my Dad would have thrown my head into the rubbish chute if I had done that... Photobucket

*An update of the previous post after yesterday's lunch & dinner*

The LV bag is signed on credit card, and she intends to pay only the minimum each month coz she is extremely tight of cash. Then wad is the point of buying the bag when you will be so hard up for money? I simply do not understand her logic. Buy a bag just to "act say"? I would call that a childish act. I am not jealous that she bought a LV bag, pls do not be mistaken. I can always afford to buy my own LV, but just that so far nothing really caught my eye from LV and I prefer Fendi, Dior big time over LV.

And I bet, if my Mum has a credit card machine at home, she will swipe her card at this machine every month to give my Mum her monthly allowance or sign some installment package with my Mum!

All the gold and jewellery that the relatives and my Mum gave her have been pawned in May, and her wedding was only like mid April?!?! The other day when we were having Mother's Day dinner, her husband was still exclaiming that he is bringing in a lot of workers, and every worker he is making profit of at least $1k? And her quarterly bonus of at least one month's pay was just credited last month? Seriously do not understand where all her money have gone to. And it's not like they are even trying to clear his OA that's why they are tight of cash. They are simply spendthrift. Probably all spent on gambling. He buys 4D like nobody's business. Imagine there is this number that if came out tops, he would have won $900k. How much does he need to bet if he buys from Singapore Pools? $180 big and $180 small. And this is only one set of numbers and only one day. He buys like many many numbers, and plays many many games of mahjong, 'la-B', dice, etc... Any gambling games you know, he plays. And his bets are unformidable one hor!

Do not wash your dirty linen in public. But I am extremely pissed off, turned off, disgusted with all her actions that I simply do not care. I do not bother if this is going to put myself in a bad light or if people are going to view her differently. The moment she started telling tales abt me to my Mum, I had seen through her.

Family are supposed to be your closest kin, and yet she has the cheek to be playing political games in the family. Maybe all the info of pawning the jewellery is false, she was only trying to make use of my friend to let me know fake info, then I will tell them to my mum. (Cos I am very close to my Mum and I will tell her everything, abt myself, James, Number 1, 2, 4, my frens, anybody.) And it will seem like I am bad-mouthing her in front of my Mum and when my Mum discovers that all is false, my Mum will be super disgusted with me and will not believe anything that I say about her again. And Number 2 will know that my fren 'betrayed' her and told me all her stuffs.

By saying all these, I seem to be playing politics within the family too, but no, I am only doing this to her. I need to be very cautioned against this person, this person who thinks the world only consists of her, this extremely self-centred person person who stabbed my back so hard its heartwrenching and almost impossible to forgive her ever again. I cannot imagine detesting a person this much in my life, it's tough to detest a person, coz it makes you meaner and its a heavy burden to have so much hate in you, and the person you detest is the person you used to love, yes I used to love this sister of mine very much, until......

Alvan's leaving for BKK today. Going for a 5D4N Badminton exchange program organised by the school. He is not my son and yet I am doing all the things that his mother should be doing. Buying the toiletries, packing his luggage, reminding and telling him what to do or what needs to be done, exchanging the currency, etc. My Mum gave him THB 4500 (about S$200) plus an additional S$100 to spend over there, and his Mum only gave him one hundred freaking Sing dollars. She has the money to
buy a LV bag that costs $1.8k but yet do not have the money to give his son? Do not have the money to spend on her own mother? Do not have the means to give her own mother more allowance? Bullshit. I really am getting pissed by her again.

His Mum took 2 days leave, today and Friday (when he is coming back). His flight ex SIN to BKK is at 1225hrs, thus taking leave today is acceptable. His flight back home on Friday touches down at 1935hrs! She took leave on the pre-text that she needs to fetch her son from the airport. Bullshit again. 1935hrs lei, need to take leave meh? On a day when her colleagues are at their busiest, she takes leave. And yet she denies people of taking leave when they have REAL things to do, like taking a Wednesday afternoon half day to collect passport cos they are flying on the same week's Friday night; postponing other people's courses cos she needs to fetch her son to and from airport and will not be in the office! Bullshit bullshit bullshit!!!

07.06.08 (Saturday) - The first day that I drove on my own, without anyone sitting next to me. The past week's arrangement was that I will drive from home to Chun's office, from Chun's office to my office (yes, I am fetching my little sister to work, FOC, not like some people who twist and turn their words and make me seem like I'm some buay zhidong sister who do not pay for cabfares) and then from my office, James will take over the car and drive to work. He will come and fetch me after he knock off from work. Saturday James' not working, so I drove Chun to work, followed by a solo drive to work and back home. Usually when I drive, James will be sitting next to me.. However this time is a solo drive. Not too bad I would say. Hehe...

Yeaps, and from today onwards I will drive to work on my own. No more James sitting next to me from Loyang to Changi. Will be just Xiaobai and me! Hehe... Only worry is the parking. Still not too confident of my parking skills now, today (and Saturday) I parked right behind at the carpark, where there are not many people smoking and watching. When I get more confident of my parking skills then I shall park in front and drive out to lunch.
Our 9th Year Anniversary
Written on | back to top

05.06.08 (Thursday) was James and my 9th year pak-toh anniversary. Yes, we have been together for 9 years already... Since 1999. We had initially wanted to make our ROM on this date, but after several considerations, we decided to hold our solemnization on our Actual Day (AD). 05th June was spent in Ang Mo Kio hub coz we had arranged to meet our AD Photographer (PG) at 3pm at the MacDonald's over there. Spent a good hour finding out more info about the packages available, and then paid our deposit of $200 and ta-da! PG confirmed and settled. Sam is a free-lancer and does not have his own studio. He was recommended by my colleague who got married early this year. Saw the photos that he took for her, am rather pleased with the effects, quality and standard, and of coz the price. Next to settle is the videographer (VG).

Took a ride on the flyer that night. Being very afraid of heights deterred me from taking the flyer even when Daddy could get the tix at discounted rates. However I wasn't sure what drove me to take the ride that night. The last boarding time was 10pm, we were among the last to board the flyer. The view was scenic, and not really scary if you do not look down and below. I got butterflies in my stomach when I tried to look down. Gee... Scary... So just look far and away, look at the night landscape of Singapore, all the starry starry lights and cars wheezing past on the ECP. Not a bad experience but not really worth that amount of money IMO. Hehe..

Gathering with the good ol' friends
Written on | back to top

03.06.08 (Tuesday) - Went to meet up with a few ol' friends. Friends who know you inside out, friends who have grown up with you, friends whom our parents know by name and by face, friends whom used to stay over frequently, friends whom you feel comfortable talking to even though you meet up once in 2-3 months, friends whom will ask you if you need help before you ask them for help when you are preparing to get
married, friends whom will be and are here for you this lifetime.

Met up with Mei, Yisen, Qiuting and Guobin at Citylink New York New York for dinner. On and off Mei, Yisen, Guobin and I have been meeting up throughout the past years but somehow Qiuting sort of disappeared during the Uni days. And somehow Yisen managed to link her back the past one year. The previous time they met up in Tampines I could not join (and now I cannot really remember why) and so Tuesday was like the first time I was seeing this pretty fren of mine since about 5 years ago! Was kinda nervous initially coz I wasn't really sure if she's still the same girl I used to hang out with last time. Thankfully neither she nor I have changed very much, we managed to chat like the ol' times, updated each other of our lives that the other party had missed out on. Yisen, being the very thoughtful guy, gave me a present, for my birthday which will come in handy during my wedding. Had an enjoyable evening with these friends whom I know I can count on at anytime.

Baobei's 5th Birthday
Written on | back to top

Sunday (01.06.08) was my baobei's 5th birthday. Whole family (minus Chun who had a date with her boyfren) went to the Henderson bridge. Rather hot and humid that day with a very slight drizzle halfway through. Nothing very fantastic abt this bridge anyway. Daddy and Mummy took our car, and Daddy being an experienced taxi driver, was telling me when to slow down, when to over take, when to do this, when to do that the whole journey! Ok, it has been ages since I last drove and I do appreciate that he is sharing his experience with me, but not throughout the whole journey lo! TMD! So the journey home, I made James take over the wheels. Humph!

Bought a Swensen's ice-cream cake for my Baobei. Everyone loves ice-cream cakes right? At least for my family, we all do! Yummy yummy... Initially wanted to order one for her, with very adorable cartoon designs, but I they need 3 working days, and I went down on 29.05 (Thursday) evening to order, so I wasn't in time to specially
order the cake. :( And so, I made another trip to Swensens on Sunday evening.

When we brought out the cake and lay it on the MJ table, took photos of the cake and my Baobei with the cake, my Baobei said, "I want to take with Auntie Cammie"!!! She wanted to take photos with me first rather than with her Mummy or Daddy!! She is really my Baobei ok... No denials and no running away from that. Hehe...

All my nephews call me San Yiyi, only she calls me Auntie Cammie. Why? Simply coz she is my baobei. And of late, she has been growing closer and closer to me, every Sunday she comes over to our place, she will stick to me like superglue. My sister (Number 1) has been telling me that even at home, she will keep mentioning my name.

When Eric bullies her, she will say "I tell Auntie Cammie"
When she makes a pretty flower in school for Mother's Day, she said proudly to my sister, "I want to show this to Auntie Cammie".
When her mummy tells her they are going out, she will ask, "Are we going
to find Auntie Cammie?"
She's really such a darling! I love my Baobei.

Here's me and my Baobei and the birthday cake that I bought (photo courtesy from Chun's Sony Ericsson hp to be uploaded when she has time to do it... hehe)
