Being pregnant isn't an easy task.. Have officially stepped into the 3rd trimester now, and wow, the stomach's getting so big, I am beginning to look so huge! I can't cross my legs when I sit down, have difficulties in falling asleep at night coz Baby Isabelle kicks me at all the unearthly hours, backaches, leg cramps (so far twice only, and hope it doesn't get too frequent), stretch marks, water retention, bloated face and fat limbs are just SOME of the discomforts I am facing. I walk so much slower compared to normal people, and waddle as I walk. But I do enjoy the pregnancy coz it's such an amazing experience to be carrying a precious life inside my own tummy! From a tiny sac measuring a few mm, to a tadpole like figure, to a fully formed baby! From seeing the heartbeat blinking on the screen, to feeling the first kick, to feeling her little limbs moving right across the tummy! All these are very very amazing experiences that everyone should experience.
Being a first time mummy, I really dunno wad to expect. How will the contraction feel like, what I should do when the waterbag bursts, how the delivery process is going to be like, how painful is delivery pain, will I require assistance in bringing baby out, will I end up doing emergency c-sect, will I have enough breastmilk to feed baby, how will I know baby wants milk, how will I know baby is comfortable, how to bathe baby? All the hows go through my mind everyday and I know I will not have an answer until the day it happens. I am just hoping that I will not get too anxious and over-react, and be able to handle the situation calmly. And to make things a little easier for us, we signed up for the pre-natal lessons at Mount Alvernia, but as the day draws nearer and nearer, I can't help but still get very nervous.
Baby is about 1.055kg at week 28, and this is kinda an average weight for babies at this gestational stage. However many forum mates have babies of 1.2kg, 1.3kg, and I am beginning to feel that Isabelle is kinda small at this gestational stage. Thot of beefing her up a little, but it doesn't help that I am tested positive for Gestational Diabetes. This means I will need to control my carbo, starch and sugar intake coz my sugar level has exceeded the normal range. Somehow things will work out by itself I guess, I would rather myself suffer than to bring harm to my little baby. I have to endure pricking myself with a needle to test my sugar level 7 times a day, twice a week, and this is will continue all the way until Isabelle is out from my tummy! After delivery I will still need to go and test for another time, to ensure that what I have is Gestational Diabetes and not diabetes. If I fail the glucose tolerance test after birth, then I am suffering from diabetes. If not, I am clear, but that does not mean that I can indulge in all the sinful food coz I am in the higher risk of contracting diabetes as it runs in the family.
Isabelle's Daddy has been very supportive the whole while, he forbids me to do any chores at home. Makes sure I drink enough water, has enough food to eat, rests when I am tired, topping all these up with massages every now and then. That is really very sweet of him, but I really wonder if he will continue to be so caring after Isabelle is born. I hope I am not going to be relinquished of being number 1, and can still stay in the tops position! Wahahahaha.. But should that happen, I guess I shouldn't grumble too, coz it just means that he loves our precious daughter a little more than he loves me! :D
