Just attended Guobin and Yvonne's wedding on Sat and Sun. Feeling extremely happy for them coz they are like a match made in heaven. Both are doctors, one handsome guy and one pretty babe, both with great personality. Sat was their church wedding at a Catholic church in AMK. Having known Guobin for 10+ years, din know that he was a Catholic, neh, he isn't. Yvonne is a Catholic, thus the church wedding. It was a solemn and sacred affair, with lotsa prayers and hymns..
Sunday was the banquet, held at Fullerton Hotel Grand Ballroom. Very posh, and they had catered so many additional stuffs. Guobin is really a very thotful guy. He had his fren play on the grand piano, some brothers and sisters went to learn balloon sculpting and entertained many of the little kids who were present! They also had 2 collages, one of both their parents, and one of they themselves. One oil painting of them at one table, some caricacture pictures of themselves at another table. It was like everywhere there is something to keep you entertained. I am very impressed with the whole set-up.
Their wedding is all ala carte, no packages at all. Gowns and suits made to measure from Ted Wu, photography and videography from 8th Ave (they spent more than $8k on it ok!), even bridal car decoration and flower bouquet were also done on their own.
The ballroom is located one level lower, thus they had to walk down the stairs into the ballroom! And with the train of the gown running behind Yvonne as she walked down the stairs, it was a romantic feeling and you just want to hold the hands of your loved one and squeeze tight. Ballroom held about 40 tables, and had a megatable of 20 pax. The very thotful couple even handmade a bookmark for each and every of their guests, on top of the wedding favour (a photo album with a photo of them inside)!
During the cocktail session, Yvonne was dressed in her light green qipao which was tailor made by Ted Wu, only at her first march in, then she changed into her wedding gown, also by Ted Wu. Second march-in, Yvonne changed into her red evening gown which was elegant and not too overpowering, just nice for the petite her.
Before the couple's 1st march-in, I caught a glimpse of our good fren at the staircase, watching the couple march-in. I pointed out to Qiuting, and I was quite sure that back view belongs to our good fren. He had just went out of touch with us about 2 months ago, not wanting to let us know what problems he is facing now, just keeping quiet about it. And Guobin was really upset that his good fren wasn't even going to attend his wedding. We had thot of many reasons why he was avoiding us like plague. Maybe he feels that the 4 of us takes him for granted and only calls him when we need help with IT stuffs. Well, the real reason only he knows, no use trying to do a guess, coz we aren't him. The 5 of us do meet us occassionally, with the recent one year being more frequent. It's rather tough trying to find a time for all of us to meet... With an air stewardess who's always on the go, an architect who's always working late, a doctor who needs to work on shifts, how difficult it is to make a date!
Well, anyway, after the couple's march-in, Mei and Qiuting went off after him, trying to catch hold of him, but upon seeing both of them, he ran away. I am seriously very troubled over what is happening. Have we done something wrong? We wouldn't know for sure, coz he wouldn't tell. Watching him look at his good fren of many years walk down the aisle and then running away, makes me feel like tearing. The scene caused my heart to do a somersault and flip, I just hope that things will work out for him, and between him and us. Maybe the only way to console ourselves, and especially Guobin, is that at least he did participate in the wedding somehow and sometime.
During the dinner, 1 of Guobin's frens was on the keyboard, and one playing the saxophone, entertaining us throughout the first part of the dinner. Serving was done individually, thus there wasn't a "this-guy-took-more-abalone" kinda situation, and portions were generally small, so that you could eat through till the last dish. Desert was strawberry pudding, which was a very refreshing change from the usual mango pudding or yam paste (yours truly had yam paste with gingko nuts as desert also lo).
Guobin's thank-you speech was so him. He made his own joke and laugh, and we ended up laughing at him. He thanked his dad by saying something like "爸爸,你可以放心去玩了,因为我找到一个比你还凶的女人" And to his mum, he said that he will make sure Yvonne helps her ard in the house, although he will end up picking up the pcs after her. The thank you speech was just so him. He even thanked me and Qiuting and Sin Mei! Came as a surprise but very very pleasant surprise. He ended his speech with one of my favourite songs - Grow Old with You by Adam Sandler. A song that I nearly chose for my march-in or montage. This song is very very meaningful and I think it's the perfect song for them.
Days before his wedding, he was telling me that if I am a guy, he would have made me part of his brother entourage. I told him, if only he is a girl, then I would have made him part of my sister entourage! Yeah, that was about just how close we were. Cheers to our frenship, and cheers to the everlasting love to be shared!
Photos to be updated later on! Heehee..
Went Sharon's place for visiting on Saturday. First time that I see Claudia since she was born! Din manage to see her on her Full Month Baby Shower as I was in Europe. Finally get to see Claudia BB le, after like 2 months plus.. She's so adorable, and she smiled at me when I played with her.. Am very impressed with Charlene too, her vocabulary is good! She can say "Mummy got muscle". Imagine that coming from a 2 year old! I am impressed and very proud of Sharon for being able to juggle both kids on her own. It's been a really long while since I saw Sharon, since she went on ML, I have only been communicating with her via MSN and skype. She looked tired but am very happy for her, though tired but she looked so blissful fussing over her two princesses. Stayed for about 2 hours as it was about time for Claudia and Charlene's feed and we went to Nel's place for steamboat dinner.
It was a less than 5 min drive to Nel's place. Steamboat dinner, actually it was more of a steamboat supper, and then was gambling time. Blackjack round with Ah Aun as the banker. Wow, that night were all big legs wor.. Got 2 big legs who are teachers (and are husband and wife), Justina's also a big leg, and there was one smelly leg and some small legs (such as yours truly). Hahaha.. Won about $9 coz small bets, Justina won $70! The 2 big legs lost about $70 they said.. Then the smelly leg I tink lost quite a bit but he say he never really lose. And the banker won abt $50 odd it seemed.. Anyway after the blackjack round, Darling and I left as it was already 1plus in the morning. The very tired me needs more rest than anyone else, so we bid them a good bye and left them to continue with MJ session.
Sunday Darling and I went to Suntec for a short walk. Wanted to buy a pair of shoes, but din manage to buy any coz none of the shoes were to my liking. Imagine the shoe queen cannot find shoes to buy? It was a torture for me. But we managed to get the books we wanted, and still went home on a happy note.
