Byez... I am off to shopping land le! Yeah!

19 April is the day Number 2 got hitched officially. She had 6 'sisters' - Val, Jenny, Lisa, Nel, Alicia and me. We woke up early in the morning to prepare 'breakfast' for the brothers. Will have to wait for the photographer's photos before I can upload them in a webbie.. The sabotage was not very fun coz the brothers were not very onz. But we also dowan to tekan the groom so much la, so we close one eye and let them go. Haha...
At the 2nd door, we let him off very lightly with 2 songs. After that was family photo-taking session and then we proceed to the groom's place. Rather upset with Val, Jenny and Lisa. They practically never help at all lo. I was the one who wiped her sweat, pull the train of the gown, adjust her veil, help her to drink water without smudging the makeup etc. When doing the outdoor shoots at Changi Beach, they practically just stand in the shade and relak. Then at Changi SAF Chalet, me and Nel act blur, we did not go all the way to take photos. So Alicia, Val and Jenny went to help her. Lisa act blur all the way lo. Some kinda help leh. Wa lauz... Anyway I think Vicky should thank Alicia the most, last minute ask her to be jiemei, and she agreed to be, and was a very onz jiemei. Do all the 'sai-gang' for her and still kena vent temper at. Poor Alicia.
Anyway the morning was really tiring. Nel still had to help her do the Actual Day montage to show at the banquet. She zoomed home and rushed the montage. Ended up reach my place late for make-up. But the MUA (Make-up artist) I hired is good de lo. She made my double eyelids appear, and mind you, they are my real double eyelids lo, i got 'nei shuang' (inner double eyelids). And there were 2 more pretty babes that evening! Wahahaha...
*Afternote... My SD card kena 2 big blisters!!! Dunno whether I can retrieve the photos inside or not... Boohoo!!! Hopefully Bren's beau, Jimmy, can do miracles for me... *Cross my fingers and pray hard*

We are sitting at lunch one day when my daughter casually mentions that she and her husband are thinking of "starting a family."
"We're taking a survey," she says half-joking. "Do you think I should have a baby?"
"It will change your life," I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral.
"I know," she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous vacations."
But that is not what I meant at all. I look at my daughter, trying to decide what to tell her. I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes. I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will forever be vulnerable.
I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without asking, "What if that had been MY child?" That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. That when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die.
I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to the primitive level of a bear protecting her cub. That an urgent call of "Mom!" will cause her to drop a soufflé, her best crystal without a moments hesitation.
I feel that I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood. She might arrange for childcare, but one day she will be going into an important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet smell. She will have to use every ounce of discipline to keep from running home, just to make sure her baby is all right.
I want my daughter to know that every day decisions will no longer be routine. That a five year old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at McDonald's will become a major dilemma. That right there, in the midst of clattering trays and screaming children, issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in that restroom.
However decisive she m ay be at the office, she will second-guess herself constantly as a mother. Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself.
That her life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child. That she would give herself up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years, not to accomplish her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs.
I want her to know that a cesarean scar or shiny stretch marks will become badges of honor. My daughter's relationship with her husband will change, but not in the way she thinks. I wish she could understand how much more you can love a man who is careful to powder the baby or who never hesitates to play with his child. I think she should know that she will fall in love with him again for reasons she would now find very unromantic.
I wish my daughter could sense the bond she will feel with women throughout history who have tried to stop war, prejudice and drunk driving.
I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to ride a bike. I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a babywho is touching the soft fur of a dog or cat for the first time. I want her to taste the joy that is so real it actually hurts.
My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have formed in my eyes. "You'll never regret it," I finally say. Then I reached across the table, squeezed my daughter's hand and offered a silent prayer for her, and for me, and for all the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this most wonderful of callings.
Please share this with a Mom that you know or all of your girlfriends who may someday be Moms. May you always have in your arms the one who is in your heart.

Counting down to BKK trip... 5 days more and I will be off to shopping land. I wonder how much bhat I need to change... Can't wait to shop and shop and shop till I drop. Especially after last Saturday's shopping trip with Nel, it sparked off the shopping urge that I had supressed for so long. We basically shop till our legs gave way. Can't really imagine if we were to go BKK together. Guess we will end up with additional 3 luggages home! And now I really cannot supress my urge, I am actually browsing online for things to buy... And I have shortlisted 3 bags, 4 tops, 3 bottoms! But thank goodness I have yet to submit my list to the spree organiser. I am so dead.
Think I had better plan my 5 days carefully (acutally strictly speaking, it's only 4 days lo..) Do not wish to end up wasting time at unnecessary places. Mmm... Shall do the planning on Sunday, after Vicky's wedding. And also have to start a little bit of packing, at least have an idea what we gonna bring over there.

Was on leave on Tuesday. Went for our HDB appointment in the afternoon. We have finally selected our unit, at Punggol Drive. Wonder if this project will be carried out, if it doesn't, we will be back to square one. (Darling went to check with his colleague who designed this project, most probably will proceed. Thank goodness!) Anyway we have managed to select a high floor unit, level 11. Not too bad ya, but it was far too ex for a 4 room flat lo... This "investment" is going to set us back by more than $230k! Well, we have no choice anyway.
After our appointment with HDB, we went down to my bridal studio to try my gowns. Actually I can have MTM with my package, but I see no point to having a MTM if I manage to choose an OTR gown that I like. I was very excited since its my first time in a wedding gown. Tried on as many as 10 different wedding and evening gowns. Wow.. Am surprised that I actually look rather slim in the gowns! Hehe.. Darling actually felt that the tube cut and empress cut gowns suit me a lot and that I look pretty in them! *Blush* Feeling so blissed and really feel that our wedding preps are underway now... Really moving forward to the next chapter of our life! Shortlisted about 4 gowns, and will go down in May with Nel again. She is the expert, hehe...
Many of our plans are materialising this year, thus this year has been a spend spend spend year, we have never spent money in this way before... Spending in thousands every time we make a payment. It feels very shiok to be spending like this, sigining and signing (on CC and cheques) but the bank ascounts dun feel good.
Hahaha... But these are what we have been saving up for, isn't it? For the next chapter in life, to walk down the aisle together, to lead our lives together and to start our own family and stay happily ever after. All these sound very blissful and seem like the perfect fairy tale and we hope that things will work out in this way. Of coz we will work very hard in order to materialise these dreams!
