My New Phone!!!
Written on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 | back to top

I bought a new handphone! On Monday, not today. Yeah! Finally got down to buying it after months of contemplation. Here it is!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

With a 2 year contract - $98. Plus a 1GB micro SD card of $29 (minus 10%) and after rebates from my Citibank M1 card, I spent only about $50 on this phone! Very worthwhile right?

Still trying to explore the phone, and get used to the functions, especially the sms part. Even though I was using the Samsung D500C before this N72, its still kinda difficult to switch over now. Not used to using the '#' key for space and '0' key to change word. And moreover this phone has 4 really sensitive touch-screen functions, so if for the next few days I reply your sms-es a tad too slowly, pls forgive me, coz I am still learning. *Or maybe I am very tied up with work again and failed to reply you timely*

We spent money like nobody's business this October. We spent a whopping $4000 and got back only 2 pieces of paper!!! $3k was spent on our deposit for the hotel banquet, and the other $1k on our bridal package. Yeaps, the 2 pieces of paper are the receipts for the payments, nothing else very physical seen after taking out $4k. Hah hah hah... For the time being, that is about it for our big plans coming ahead next year. Next heavy spend will be on the flat.

OMG, I just hope we can get one of the HDB's new flats instead of in the open market. The property prices are sky high now, and I really do not wish to use my Mummy's money to pay for the COV. Mummy has been really nice and understanding to actually volunteer to help us pay off the COV, but when you think about the amount of money Mummy has been spending on the rest of the daughters, how can you bear to deplete her savings further? Of coz we will return her the money within a year or two, but seriously, when the money comes from your own Mother, you will tend to drag, and then conveniently 'forget' about the whole loan. This is what happened to Mummy a few times, and when I think about how conveniently my sisters forgot about the loan, I feel very upset for my Mummy. It seems like everyone is eyeing on her savings. Have a few very agitated true stories to share, but that will be for another day, when I am not so agitated anymore.

Anyway, we do have a bit of cash saved up, but we had intended to use that money for the renovation and not to top up the COV. If we manage to get HDB's new flat, then we shall really save a lot on the flat. Renovation loan shall be manageable, and we may even be able to fulfill our plan to buy a car. We are seriously considering Punggol and Sengkang flats now, shall try our luck in December! Yes, wish us luck!

Our Annual Dinner and Dance was held on Saturday 27 Oct at Swissotel The Stamford this year. Something different from the Sheraton Hotel, bigger and nicer ballroom, ideal location, looks posher and grander. BUT food and service is really thumbs down, super duper thumbs down. Well, to have a ballroom that can hold 102 tables, not many hotels have the space to do that. So at Swissotel it was. Theme was Masquerade Ball. People came mostly in evening gowns and some in tee shirts and jeans. Nothing very fantastic this year other than the number of tables.

There were only 150 prizes to be won for 1020 staffs. AND, I won the lucky draw prize number 75! Hahaha... Not bad already la, won a $150 Best Denki voucher. Came in handy to contribute to my evergrowing "Items for our New Nest" Just wondering what I can get with $150, not a lot and not very little, neither here nor there leh. Maybe to pay half of the steamer iron that we have been wanting to get since donkey years ago.

No pics yet coz I did not bring my camera! Only took some photos with other people's cameras, anyway the people are all from the green green side, not much blue blue people left, so also not much point loh.

Yesterday was the day. It marks a really significant day in the 8 over years of relationship. I saw a sparkling pc of glass and a charming and promising architect-in-the-making kneel in front of me. It was the perfect place and a very beautiful night (minus my tears!). I can no longer joke with him saying "I did not say I would marry you" coz it's not true anymore! Come 05 June 2008, I shall officially be conferred the title of Mrs Ho. Oh my god... He is my HTB and I am his WTB! Couldn't really believe the whole thing happened until this morning when I saw the ring again.

Haven been blogging for ages. Been really tired and busy with work. It's been so hectic and seems like I am the only busy one in the entire dept! Sometimes I feel so upset and unfair, sometimes I will get a sense of satisfaction after accomplishing certain tasks. Well, especially after Francis' departure, everything seems to be falling onto my shoulders. Not that I am replacing him, but I am the most affected person in the whole dept coz my one and only back up is him! Which means I have no back-ups until my new boss decides on his plan. And me, being the busiest person in the dept, have to back up the whole wide world. Haiz... I can only hope that the other 2 ladies do not fall ill at the same time, if not I think I will be the one to fall really ill!
