1st March In Song - At the Beginning
Written on | back to top

At the Beginning

We were strangers starting out on our journey
Never dreaming what we'd have to go through
Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you

No one told me I was going to find you
Unexpected what you did to my heart
When I lost hope you were there to remind me
This is the start

(chorus)
And Life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river I want to keep flowing
Life is a road now and forever
A Wonderful journey

I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there whenthe storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

We were strangers on a crazy adventure
Never dreaming how our dreams would come true
Now here we stand unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you

(chorus)

I knew there was somebody somewhere
Like me alone in the dark
I know that my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing's gonna tear us apart

(chorus)

In the end I wanna be standing at the beginning with you
Europe Honeymoon
Written on Friday, December 26, 2008 | back to top

This honeymoon trip to Europe - 15 Days Italy, Switzerland and France - has been very enjoyable. Did not buy a lot, and did not manage to buy for each and every single person. It was mostly sight-seeing and was an eye-opener trip for me. We have seen like 10 thousand churches in Europe within the 15 Days. Just kidding la, but you get the gist. Everyday we visit and tour the churches and chapels which are already state monuments already. The history of these places goes back a long long way, each church tells a story. The carvings, statues, paintings are enough to blow you away. Its so amazing how people of the past were able to do such intricate carvings, how they managed to paint such 3-dimensional murals that you really had to touch it to believe it was just a wall painting (well, not as though they will allow you to touch them) but it was that unbelievable.

This tour group consisted of 5 couples, out of which 4 were honeymoon couples; and also families of 3s, 4s, 5s, and 6s. Total number of pax - 40. Quite a big group, but generally speaking, everyone was accommodating and flexible, nobody exactly very fussy or particular, everyone got along rather well. Tour manager from Tradewinds was Jerry Ang who was very responsible and he sure knows what he is doing. Day in day out he will be reminding us "Beware of pickpockets!" when we were in Italy and France, "Be careful, the floor is slippery!" when we were in Switzerland. To the extent that we already know what he is going to tell us before we get of the bus. Grandfather ah, nag and nag and nag. But at least you know that you're in good hands. Thumbs up for him!

We exchanged S$6000 into Euros and S$500 into Francs. Not exactly enough but we still came back with some spare Euros (due to the tax rebate). We were rather careful with our spending this time round, we did not buy on impulse, but we bought in indulgence! Money was spent mostly on the leather and branded stuffs, but these are money well-spent! Chocolates were a must, we got chocs in Switzerland and Paris. Each bar of choc is at least S$4! Very expensive, but tell me what is not expensive in Europe?! Most expensive toilet break (at Venice) was 1 EUR (equivalent to S$1.94)!!! S$2 for a leek! Darn steep. Some toilets even issued receipts! A bottle of coke will easily set you back by S$5 (small bottle mind you!). A very basic MacDonald's meal for 2 pax is S$20, without any upsize, just the regular coke, regular fries and burger. WTF right? But well, things are that expensive in Europe, so when you are in Rome, do what the Romans do! Hahaha..

Our indulgences from Europe - Burberry Sling Bag, Prada Sling Bag, Gucci Bag, Fendi Tote, Tod's Wallet, Feragamo Wallet, Tiffany charm pendant, LV MiniLin coin purse, Feragamo keychain, Tod's keychains. A lot? Seems like a lot, but when I'm back in SG, I feel that I should have bought more, coz the items are at least 20% cheaper compared to the prices Singapore boutiques are selling. Most regret not buying the Miu Miu bag which was selling at 750Eur only, compared to Singapore selling for more than $2k!

I love Italy for their romantic and laid back lifestyle, I love Switzerland for the picturesque and scenic mountain views, I love Paris for all the shopping that I can do.

Fly me to Europe again, will you?
The Start of a Lifetime Together
Written on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 | back to top

Wedding's over, honeymoon's ended.. But the start of a lifetime together...

5th December 2008

It was a teary day for me, cried when my parents put on the veil for me, cried when I was about to leave my parents' house, cried when I hugged my parents, cried when James said his thank you speech. Every little thing could make me tear cos I still wanna be my parents' never-grow-up-daughter.

I am sincerely very touched by all the sisters (Nel, Mei, Qiuting, Anna, Clarice and of course my little sister Alicia) and brothers (Khoon, Jianhao, Eric, Ben, Bernard and James' younger brother Yong) who took time off to complete our important day and helped out all the way since the morning, and also for their very big angpows!

The brothers were exceptionally on, and went all out to complete all the difficult tasks that the sisters had prepared for them. Kudos to them!

James and I are very thankful to everyone who took time to attend our wedding dinner and for their ang pows and well-wishes. Am certainly very happy that the day went well, not exactly smoothly, but thanks to all the sisters and brothers who were there to solve all types of issues or problems for us! WE LOVE YOU!
